FlogYoBlog Friday: The #GlowsValentines Edition

Happy (really early) Valentine's Day, Floggers.

In four days time it's the one day of the year where, if you're in a relationship, you're expected to spend a shite load of money "proving" you love someone, and if you're not in a relationship, you get to look around and see all the other couples engaging in disgusting public displays of affection and being made to feel like a second class citizen for being single.

I say screw 'em. I suggest we boycott the day. Well, not entirely... I'm suggesting (and hoping you'll get on board or I'll look like a complete loser the way I did last time I invited people to post on my wall and ONLY ONE PERSON DID) that we shake things up a bit. What I'll be hosting on Tuesday February 14th is a "I Love Myself Linky". You can write a post, write on my Facebook Wall, take a picture with Instagram and Tweet using the #GlowsValentines hashtag, a reason you love yourself.

It might be a personality trait, a skill, a body part, whatever. But it's a way of saying Happy Valentines day to the most important person in your life. YOU (nawwww how completely sucky but completely true). Whatever it is about you, no matter how big or small, that makes you think "You know what, I'm pretty awesome".

If you can't think of one, ASK SOMEONE ELSE! So many people see the awesome inside of ourselves when we can't. Go on, I dare you. ASK. I'll be asking Map Guy and be using it as a way to climb out of the Emo Pit I find myself in right now.

I hope you'll join me. Not only so you can have fun thinking of ways that you're awesome, but so that I don't look like a tool.

But for now, let's Flog.

  1. I am so down for this shit. Usually I make us celebrate Valentines Day just so we can go out for dinner so I don't have to cook, but I am sooooo not feeling it this year, and was already boycotting it.
You can garentee that I will be at #GlowsValentine!

I am so in. My hubs is anti Valentines so someone's gotta love me, right? And thankfully, you've given me plenty of time to figure out what itis that I love!

  3. We're not really into V-day. Well, I would be if I got anything lol. But after the first couple V-days of just me doing nice things, I gave up.

Great idea re V Day. It's dribble. I try to get in the spirit of it coz Husband likes it, but I prefer Christmas as a day to celebrate love of life and family. So having a V Day to celebrate ourselves is a brilliant idea! I have no idea about instagrams, hash tags and photos on Twitter, but I do know Facebook so I'll try it out.

  5. We don't do Valentines because it gets in the way of my birthday 2 days later which requires week leading up to and week following celebrations.  Not to also mention my dad's birthday on the 15th, my son's on the 18th and my MIL on the 22nd.  Plus our anniversary was on the 2nd.

Yeah Valentines is just lost in there.

  6. I am definitely up for this, unfortunately our anniversary is the week after Valentine's Day so it's usually a non-event for me!

  7. I don't do Valentine's day. I'll join in with your linky. Now I just need to figure out which one of my many, many wonderful attributes I shall highlight.

  8. I'm not big on Valentine's day. It's just commercialism, another reason to get us to buy shit we don't need.  Your linky's a great idea... I'll have to see if I can think of something!

  10. Sounds like a plan! We don't do Valentines because my Bday is the 12th and our wedding anniversary is March. Plus my parents anniversary on the 10th, my Dad's bday on the 16th, my uncles on the 19th...

  11. MPS forgets our anniversary.  He forgets the anniversary that we celebrated for 10 years before getting married.  He forgets my birthday... so you KNOW he will forget Valentines day so I am ALL OVER a loving on me day.

    HUZZAH!

  23. Great idea! I struggle as much with Valentines Day as I do with Halloween. We don't observe it but as a baker, people expect me to make something pretty. I'm going to bake something just for me and join in the I Love Me linky

  24. Does it make me a bad person that I totally guffawed with the whole "one person" posted on your wall . . .  sorry about that!  I'm married and I don't celebrate the Hallmark Holiday . . . I won't throw out any chocolate that comes my way but it is not expected.  That being said, I am totally jumping on board with your #GlowsValentine thingy!
